Why Bean Train

Bean Train is what my husband affectionally calls my mother. Mami is a typical Cuban 964777_587871201237515_1760816257_oAbuela (grandmother) who shows her love by cooking. So she often drops by with little frozen containers of black beans or a freshly made flan.

I started this blog to preserve my mother’s recipes and share them with others. I’m also setting myself up for my own run as a grandmother. I don’t know if I will be called Abuela, but I will continue the tradition of sharing my love through food.

My mother’s love of cooking is in our DNA, as she likes to say, because I love cooking and so do my son and daughter. So in addition to my mother’s recipes, I’ll be sharing my own and my children’s.

In fact, I extend an invitation to anyone who has a special recipe they’d like to share to send it along. I’d love to make and share with others.

You’re welcome to join our bean train!
